          Reveal tumor cell subpopulations in greater molecular detail

          MALDI Guided SpatialOMx provides an excellent possibility to discover deep molecular insight into heterogeneous tumor subtype by integrating the regiospecific information of an imaging technique with the molecular depth of 4D-Omics.

          In order to understand how individual cells act and interact in the context of their heterogeneous tissue environment, it is imperative to examine their molecular profiles in situ. However, traditional analysis tools are limited, either disregarding the spatial component as with homogenization followed by LC-MS, or monitoring a very limited range of proteins as with immuno-based imaging. To better understand the heterogeneous tumor environment and effect better management options why not utilize more of the molecular information available in the tissue environment?

          MALDI Guided SpatialOMx allows subtyping of tissue using thousands of label-free images of compounds ranging from metabolites to proteins.  Further, each subpopulation of cells can be subsequently targeted for 4D-OMICS analysis to extract deepest molecular insight with spatial context that only SpatialOMx can provide.

          Whether you are probing the cellular proteome, lipidome or metabolome, Imaging provides a literal map of molecular expression in the specimen. Often, knowing where molecular expression changes can be just as important as knowing if expression changes. This can be especially true if certain compounds are highly spatially concentrated or if molecules co-distribute in specific compartments, vital information that is lost when examining only homogenized samples.
